J.C. Backings' Photo Backing division specializes in the creation of custom photographic backings. Using our new 39-megapixel, Phase One P45+ digital camera back mounted on a Cambo Wide DS body, the images are captured, color corrected and enlarged onto Fujitrans or Fujiflex display film. Our state-of-the-art photo lab is housed in a 15,000 square foot facility in Culver City, CA. The lab utilizes a Durst Lambda to expose the digital image onto backlit Fujitrans or frontlit Fujiflex film which is then seamed together on a custom 48’ long seaming table to create the finished product.
Digital manipulation of the original photography is also available to alter an image if your set requires a particular mood or atmosphere. Entire skies can be changed, plane and car trails can be removed and buildings can be added, deleted or altered to your taste.
Pierre Steele has shot the original photography and produced Photo Backings for multiple feature films, television shows and commercials.
